Background & Aims: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive therapy for reducing weight on obese or overweight and depressed people.
Materials & Methods: Present study is a quasi-experimental study with pretest and post test that was performed on 30 female students by completing MMPI questionnaire and Beck depression test, body mass index .
Results: The data were analyzed through analysis of covariance and t-test. The findings showed that, in the experimental group, Lower body mass index and depression is more after treatment than control group.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that cognitive therapy can help reduce weight and its complications and be beneficial in the long run.
