Background & Aims: Family is defined as a system in which the behavior of each member influences the others. This study aimed to determine the relationship between differentiation of self in mothers and family cohesion with behavioral disorders in 3 to 6 years old children .
Materials & Methods: This descriptive correlational study included all 3 to 6 year old children in Kermanshah kindergartens. A total of 300 children were selected through cluster sampling. The data were gathered through questionnaires of differentiation of self, family cohesion and children’s behavioral disorders. Pearson correlation and multivariate regression were performed.
Results: T here was a negative and significant relationship between family cohesion with hyperactivity and social maladjustment. Also, there was a negative and significant relationship between differentiation of self in mothers with anxiety, depression, and ADHD disorder in their children.
Conclusion: The study highlights the important relationship between family and the role of mothers in preventing behavioral disorders in children.
