پیش‌زمینه و هدف: اساس مراقبت درمانی احترام به شأن افراد است. حفظ کرامت سالمندان، یکی از بنیادی‌ترین مواردی که بایستی در مراقبت از آن‌ها رعایت شود. این مطالعه به‌منظور بررسی‌شان اجتماعی سالمندان بستری در بیمارستان‌های دانشگاه علوم پزشکی آبادان در سال 1401 انجام شده است.
مواد و روش کار: مطالعه حاضر به‌صورت مقطعی در بین 167 نفر از سالمندان بستری در بیمارستان‌های دانشگاه علوم پزشکی آبادان در سال 1401 انجام شد. نمونه‌ها با روش نمونه‌گیری در دسترس انجام شد. برای جمع‌آوری داده‌ها از پرسشنامه شأن اجتماعی باقری و همکاران استفاده شد. برای تجزیه‌وتحلیل داده‌ها ابتدا با روش‌های آماری توصیفی و آزمون‌های تی-دو نمونه‌ای و ANOVA یا من-ویتنی و کروسکال-والیس استفاده شد. تحلیل داده‌ها با استفاده نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخه 24 در سطح معنی‌داری 0.05 انجام شد.
یافته‌ها: بالاترین میانگین نمره هم معیار شده مربوط به حمایت اجتماعی (56/3) و کمترین (37/3) بود و میانگین نمره مؤلفه‌ها تفاوت معنی‌داری نداشت (P>0.05). در مقایسه مؤلفه‌ها، میانگین نمره حمایت خانواده در سالمندان با درآمد بالاتر از 20 میلیون بیشتر از سایر گروه‌های درآمدی، تحمیل اقتصادی در زنان بالاتر از مردان و تحمیل اجتماعی در گروه‌های سنی تفاوت معنی‌داری داشت.
بحث و نتیجه‌گیری: نتایج نشان داد کهشان اجتماعی سالمندان بستری متوسط بود. مؤلفه‌هایشان اجتماعی سالمندان بستری نیاز به توجهی جدی از سوی سیاست‌گذاران نظام سلامت دارد. اگرچه بعد اقتصادی در کاهش منزلت آنان تأثیر چندانی نداشته است، اما نداشتن توجه به این موضوع ممکن است در آینده‌شان و جایگاه سالمندان را دچار مشکل نماید. فلذا تقویت ابعاد حمایت جامعه و کارکنان، کاهش تحمیل اجتماعی و اقتصادی برای افزایششان اجتماعی سالمندان بستری مورد تأکید پژوهشگران است.
