پیش‌زمینه و هدف: کانسر پروستات یکی از شایع‌ترین سرطان‌ها در مردان است. این مطالعه به بررسی اثربخشی پره‌گابالین خوراکی همراه با بی‌حسی موضعی در کاهش درد بیماران کاندید بیوپسی پروستات می‌پردازد.
مواد و روش‌ها: در این کارآزمایی بالینی تصادفی، 78 بیمار کاندید بیوپسی پروستات به دو گروه تقسیم شدند: گروه کنترل (بی‌حسی موضعی با لیدوکایین) و گروه مداخله (100 میلی‌گرم پره‌گابالین دو ساعت قبل از پروسیجر + بی‌حسی موضعی). بیوپسی تحت گاید سونوگرافی رکتال انجام شد. شدت درد بیماران یک و شش ساعت پس از بیوپسی با استفاده از مقیاس Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) ارزیابی گردید.
یافته‌ها: شایع‌ترین علت مراجعه در هر دو گروه، علائم تحریکی ادراری (LUTS) بود (48.7 درصد در گروه کنترل و 41 درصد در گروه مداخله). شدت درد در گروه مداخله به‌طور معناداری کمتر از گروه کنترل بود (p<0.001). این تفاوت هم در یک ساعت و هم در شش ساعت پس از پروسیجر مشاهده شد. مصرف سیگار تأثیر معناداری بر میزان درد نداشت.
بحث و نتیجه‌گیری: تجویز 100 میلی‌گرم پره‌گابالین خوراکی دو ساعت قبل از بیوپسی پروستات، همراه با بی‌حسی موضعی، موجب کاهش قابل‌توجه درد بیماران طی ساعات پس از پروسیجر می‌شود. این یافته می‌تواند به بهبود تجربه بیماران و افزایش پذیرش آن‌ها برای انجام بیوپسی پروستات کمک کند.
