پیش‌زمینه و هدف: هایپرگلایسمی ناشی از دیابت سبب اختلال در سیستم‌های قلبی - عروقی، کلیه، شبکیه، عدسی چشم، پوست و سیستم عصبی مرکزی و محیطی می‌شود. ازآنجایی‌که دو شاخص α1PGC- و Atf2 در بیوژنز میتوکندریایی دخیل هستند، ازاین‌رو، مطالعه حاضر جهت بررسی تأثیر شش هفته تمرین استقامتی به همراه مصرف مکمل کوئرستین بر بیان ژن‌های PGC-1α و Atf2 میتوکندریایی هیپوکامپ رت‌های نر دیابتی طراحی و اجرا شد.
مواد و روش کار: پژوهش حاضر از نوع تجربی با طرح پس‌آزمون به همراه گروه کنترل بوده که به روش آزمایشگاهی انجام شد. در پژوهش حاضر، تعداد 35 رت نژاد ویستار به 5 گروه (7 رت در هر گروه) شامل: سالم کنترل، دیابت کنترل، دیابت مکمل کوئرستین، دیابت تمرین و دیابت تمرین مکمل کوئرستین تقسیم شدند. به دو گروه آزمون (دیابتی تمرین مکمل و مکمل)، 15 میلی‌گرم کوئرستین به ازای هر کیلوگرم از وزن بدن، هر روز بعد از القای دیابت، تزریق شد. پروتکل مورد استفاده در پژوهش حاضر، 6 هفته تمرین استقامتی با شدت متوسط (55-50 درصد حداکثر اکسیژن مصرفی) بود. 24 ساعت پس از آخرین جلسه تمرین، بافت هیپوکامپ برای بررسی بیان ژن‌های PGC-1α و Atf2 جدا شد. از آزمون تحلیل واریانس یک‌طرفه با آزمون تعقیبی توکی (با سطح معناداری 05/0 >P) برای بررسی داده‌ها استفاده شد.
یافته‌ها: نتایج نشان داد که پس از 6 هفته مداخله، میزان بیان ژن PGC-1α و Atf2 در گروه دیابت تمرین مکمل نسبت به گروه‌های کنترل دیابت، دیابت تمرین و مکمل کوئرستین افزایش معنادار داشته (05/0 >P). گروه دیابت تمرین نیز نسبت به گروه دیابتی کنترل افزایش معناداری برای هر دو ژن مذکور داشت (05/0>P).
بحث و نتیجه‌گیری: این‌گونه به نظر می‌رسد که 6 هفته تمرین استقامتی به‌تنهایی و همراه با مصرف مکمل کوئرستین می‌تواند بر بیان ژن PGC-1α و Atf2 میتوکندری تأثیر مثبتی داشته و باعث افزایش بیان آن‌ها در شرایط بیماری دیابت شود.
