Background & Aims: Stress impacts reproductive efficacy; therefore, the present study was aimed to determine the effectiveness of Benson relaxation technique on reducing the stress of infertility in women along with drug therapy to increase ovulation.
Materials & Methods: This study was conducted on women referring to clinics of Khorramabad city in 2017. The subjects were selected randomly and were divided into two groups of control and test. Entry requirements were: infertility over one year, aged 18-34 years, no history of sedation, no infertility cause except anovulation. The data collection tools were Fertility problem inventory-FPI (Newton et al, 1999) and ultrasonography of ovaries. Both groups received Letrozole 2.5 mg; and pre-test and posttest were taken either. Data analysis was performed by SPSS 21 software using one-variable covariance analysis (P<0.05).
Result: The dominant follicle formation in the test group was more than the control group. Also, comparison of stress scores between two groups after intervention showed a significant difference between two groups (p <0.05).
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, Benson relaxation method decreased stress and increased ovulation. Therefore, fertility scientists are recommended to apply Benson relaxation method as an adjunctive therapy beside drug therapy to get desired outcomes.
