This study sought to evaluate the effect of two types of the two step etch and rinse adhesive systems with different solvents on durability of resin composite bonding to the treated dentin with proanthocyanidins. Materials & Methods: In this in vitro experimental study, 80 human molar teeth, after removal of the coronal enamel, were randomly divided into 4 groups, based on the type of solvent used in the adhesive. Half of them were treated with proanthocyanidins, and others were considered as the control. Thermocycling and cutting were done on the specimens 24 hours after preparing and water storage. Half of them were immediately subjected to the microtensile bond strength test, and the others after 6 months storage in distilled water. The mode of failures and the fractured surface morphology were examind under a stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope, respectively. Results: None of the variables including the use of proanthocyanidin, type of solvent and storage had significant effect lonely, but the interaction between the use of proanthocyanidin and solvent type, and the interaction between the use of proanthocyanidin and storage had statistically significant effect on the values of microtensile bond strenght (P<0.05). Parental presence during induction of anesthesia can be used to treat pre-induction anxiety and emergence agitation in children. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of mother presence during induction of anesthesia on emergence of agitation after strabismus surgery Materials & Methods: In this prospective randomized clinical trial, 40 candidates for strabismus surgery aged 2-7 years were divided into study and control group. Pain and sedation were assessed in the post-anesthesia care unit using FACEs pain rating scale and Ramsay sedation scale, respectively. Results: Patients in the study group had significantly higher Ramsay sedation scores compared with the control group (2.1±.7 vs. 1.2±.4; p=0.04). Thus, the aim of this research was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on serum amounts of fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) and Irisin in sedentary obese women. Materials & Methods: Twenty sedentary obese women (with the average age of 30.15±2.96 and BMI of 30.34±1.27) were selected and randomly categorized into HIIT group and control group each consisting of 10 members. HIIT program was conducted for 8 weeks, 3 sessions in each week and with 90 percent of target heart rate. Blood samples were taken from both HIIT and control groups (while fasted) before and after the training to measure Irisin, FGF21 and lipid profile. The research data were analyzed by independent and dependent t-statistic tests in the significant level of P<0.05. Results: The results of the statistical analysis showed HIIT program increased serum amounts of FGF21 and Irisin in sedentary obese women (P<0.05). Also, the results of independent t test showed there was a significant difference between HIIT group and control group in terms of FGF21 and Irisin amounts. Conclusion: According to the results of this research, it seems HIIT program with increasing amounts of Irisin and FGF21 may lead to the transformation of white adipose tissue to brown adipose tissue and therefore, it has a key role in preventing obesity and its negative consequences.}, Keywords = {High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Irisin, FGF21, Lipid Profile, sedentary obese women}, volume = {28}, Number = {7}, pages = {453-466}, publisher = {Urmia University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://umj.umsu.ac.ir/article-1-4064-en.html}, eprint = {http://umj.umsu.ac.ir/article-1-4064-en.pdf}, journal = {Studies in Medical Sciences}, issn = {2717-008X}, eissn = {2717-008X}, year = {2017} } @article{ author = {Abbasi, Fariba and PurJabali, Masumeh and Adbollahzadeh, Kaveh}, title = {ACCURACY OF BRONCHIAL WASHING IN DIAGNOSIS OF LUNG CANCER}, abstract ={Background & Aims: Lung cancer as the most common cancer leads to 30% and 26% of deaths in men and women, respectively. Most patients with lung cancer are diagnosed in advanced stages, so their surgical procedures are not often successful. Therefore, early diagnosis has the key role in treatment and life expectancy of patients. The aim of this study was to determine sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values and accuracy of bronchial washing cytology in comparison with biopsy in diagnosis of lung cancer. Materials & Methods: In this study, the diagnostic accuracy of bronchial washing was evaluated on 215 consecutive cases whose bronchial samples were taken in Urmia Imam Khomeini hospital during March 2012- March 2015. Results: Among 215 bronchial samples, 52 cases (24.2%) were female and 163 cases(75.8%) were male. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value and accuracy were 32.1%, 96.47%, 89.65%, 59.85% and 65.06%, respectively. Aerobic training is associated with reduction risk of cardiovascular disease, but the role of aerobic training on tPA and PAI-1 as main regulators of fibrinolysis system in obese postmenopausal women is not understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobic training on fibrinolysis factors in overweight and obese postmenopausal women. Materials & Methods: A number of twenty four overweight and obese postmenopausal women (age: 53.61±5.02 yrs, weight: 74.95±7.74kg and BMI: 30.56±3.43 kg/m2) were randomly divided into two groups including Aerobic Training (n=12) and Control (n=12). Aerobic training group was trained 3 sessions/wk for eight weeks at 60-75% of max reserve heart rate for 30-60 minutes. Blood samples were collected at baseline as well as 48 hrs after the last training session, followed by measuring tPA and PAI-1 plasma levels by ELISA. Dependent and independent T-tests have used to data analysis, the level of significance has been consider at P≤0/05. Results: Data analysis showed, aerobic training significantly reduced the plasma level of PAI-1 (p≤0/05), however, there were no effects on tPA (P>0/05). Also, aerobic training reduced triglycerides, LDL and increased HDL (p≤0/05), but there were no effects on cholesterol tom (P>0/05). The infants should have discharging conditions and parents should acquire sufficient preparedness before going home. Very low birthweight infants and premature ones are expected to have more complications than others. Materials & Methods: Babies stayed at NICU for at least 7 days. Levels of parental preparedness for discharging in first days after hospitalization and on discharging day were investigated according to the questionnaire. Then infants were followed up for 3 months. Results: The average levels of prenatal preparedness in first days after hospitalizing and on discharging day were calculated 15.38 and 24.19. And 43% of neonates were girls and 57% were boys. As said above, they were followed up for 3 months. The results show that 105 cases (86.6%) were apparently normal, 11 cases (9%) had mild developmental delay, 1 case had mild hydrocephaly, and 1 case had severed hydrocephaly. Heart disease was observed in 1 case and 2 cases (1.7 %) died. Conclusions: In this study, level of prenatal preparedness after training by nurses, had significant statistic value compared with the primary preparedness (P<0.001). The control group received normal saline for 15 days intraperitoneally. Experimental groups1 and 2 received a single dose of cyclophosphamide (150 mg / kg intraperitoneally). 7 days before and 7 days after administration of cyclophosphamide, the mice in these two groups received normal saline and n-acetylcysteine (150 mg / kg). Results: In the treatment group, n-acetylcysteine significantly decreased the amount of elevated aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase catabolism induced by cyclophosphamide (P <0.05). Administration of cyclophosphamide caused pathological changes in the liver structure, including dilatation of portal veins, infiltration of leukocytes and bulking hepatocytes with fatty vacuoles, and the supplementation of n-acetylcysteine greatly prevented these structural changes in the liver.
